Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS) is an organisation that exists to meet the needs and break the isolation of those bereaved by the suicide of a close relative or friend. SOBS has a number of groups available across the UK. The groups aim to provide a safe, confidential environment in which bereaved people can share their experiences and feelings, so giving and gaining support from each other

The Halton, St Helens and Warrington group is held centrally in St Helens, once a month on a Monday evening.

The nearest SOBS group to Oldham is held in Manchester (the exact location given upon ringing). The group meets the 1st Thursday of every month.Phone Toni on 07531 392 674.

Help is at Hand is a guide is aimed at the wide range of people who are affected by suicide or other sudden, traumatic death. It aims firstly to help people who are unexpectedly bereaved in this way. It also provides information for healthcare and other professionals who come into contact with bereaved people, to assist them in providing help and to suggest how they themselves may find support if they need it.
