The vicious cycle of Anxiety
As the bodily symptoms of anxiety can be unpleasant and scary, people may think that there is something physically wrong, or that something awful is going to happen. This in itself can cause more feelings of anxiety and more symptoms – and so a vicious cycle of anxiety can develop.
When this cycle has began, some people can develop a “Fear of Fear” – Someone may predict feeling the symptoms of anxiety if they have experienced anxiety in a certain situation. They may become frightened of the symptoms themselves, this in turn may actually causes the very symptoms that are feared.
